Welcome to Inspired Glass

Hi, my name is Sue and I’m a glass artist.

I come from a long line of art/craft loving relatives; from my grandfather & father’s love of carpentry to my mother’s artistic skills as a gilder at Royal Crown Derby.

As a child I always painted and crafted, honing and developing skills over the years as a hobbyist. My career path took a very different direction into the business management and finance sectors with the last 20 years being spent within the building industry and specifically the window & door market.

During my time working with windows and glass I became interested in how waste glass could be recycled. Here began my passion for the glass artistry processes. I invested in some courses in the Bristol/Bath area where after learning about the different glass processes I settled on my particular favourite which is classed as ‘warm glass work’ or ‘fusing/slumping’ and I caught the bug!

It is still a source of tremendous excitement when after 24-48 hours I open the kiln lid to view my latest creations.

The different applications, colours and products currently available for glass artists give endless possibilities to create beautiful and unique pieces and by pushing the boundaries new processes are still being discovered.

If you too would like a taster session in this magical & addictive art form please take a look at my workshop page.
